The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) of HCMC University of Natural Sciences was founded in February 1995 on the basis of the Computer Science Department - Faculty of Mathematics – HCMC University of Natural Sciences. The Faculty has grown considerably in the last few years and is currently sponsored by the government to become one of the key faculties of IT of HCMC and Vietnam. |

The FIT educates the qualified IT specialists who are capable of designing and implementing the computer applications or software applied in business administration, industry, GIS, map management, recognition, image processing, Internet applications, e-commerce… The students are provided with robust and complete fundamental IT knowledge which can help them to master the latest IT technologies or to be lecturers of computer science from the level of bachelor degree or higher.
With Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and many external collaborators from other Universities and Research Institute, the Faculty of IT is divided into 6 departments: General Informatics, Knowledge Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Software Engineering, and Computer Network and Telecommunication. |

General Informatics

Provides fundamental knowledge of IT to students of the Faculty of Information Technology. The students are introduced the basic knowledge of programming and brief introduction to software development processes.
The Department also provides IT training for students of other Faculties in the HCMUNS and other member Universities in VNU-HCMC.

Provides general knowledge in implementing, managing, and maintaining projects which help students to design and implement the high quality software products.
Graduated students in this area will be able to analyze, design and manage through medium to large software projects

Provides the knowledge in telecommunication through wide-area networks, local area networks, and distributed database systems.
Graduated students from this area will be able to design and implement from medium to large scale computer networks and telecommunication systems
